This photo confused the heck out of me. At first I thought it might be Searight's in Uniontown, PA, but then I noticed the reference to "State of Maryland." Hmmm. I wonder where. I think I've driven every mile of the National Road in Maryland recently, you'd think I would have seen a second tollbooth.

Just now, I read on a web site that the one in LaVale (Frostburg) was the only National Road tollbooth left in Maryland -- but the one in LaVale is painted white; this can't be that one. So then I compared features (porch, windows) and read the historical marker and realized it is indeed the one in LaVale: same design, same historical marker. It must have received a coat of paint since I took this photo.
