AN INTRODUCTION TO DUNLAP, MISSOURI BY ROBERT L. HUFFSTUTTER

Eddy Horton was a friendly young man who lived in Dunlap, Missouri. Everyone loved Eddy because he was always in a cheerful mood and had a big smile. He was the type of person who generated positive feeling when he was around. He is standing in the doorway of his small home. The autos in the background were a part of the local scenery in Dunlap. I believe that most of the residents figured that they would be repaired sooner or later. I enjoyed getting in them and pretending I was driving to California or New York. I can think of at least ten old autos that were parked here and there around Dunlap.

It is likely that the old autos are no longer there if the legislation has kept pace with the rest of the laws passed in America. I would guess that they were probably deemed environmental hazards, thus taken to the scrap yard like most of the autos that once made America a nation on wheels. (To answer any questions about the dangers of abandoned autos in small communiies, let me say that had I been mayor, I would have made sure that the trunks were able to be opened from inside in the event a young boy or girl followed their instinct to hide in an enclosed space while playing hide and seek.)

Hard to believe that is the sun beyond that tree.

Everywhere, ice.

I love ice storms. They are so beautiful and dangerous.

Tree and sun

The sun was shining, if you can see it through the tree.

Beyond the Edge.

I loved how this photo masked the sun, but it's rays can still be seen.

Mighty Frozen Tree

It looks so stark and bleak that day, but this mighty tree stood its ground.

Merry Frostmas 2

It was so cold and icy, the Christmas decorations were rock solid.
