This photograph shows two of the historic murals on the Cape Girardeau Flood Wall. The first mural is dated 1924 and depicts the riverboats on the river. The second with a 1925 date depicts the night life in the roaring twenties.

The Missouri Wall of Fame is a 500-foot span of flood wall in downtown Cape Girardeau, Missouri covered with a mural depicting 45 famous people who were born in the state or achieved fame while living there.

The Common Pleas Courthouse was constructed in 1854. It is a two story building with a square cupola. Though it is no longer the county's primary courthouse, it is an area tourist attraction.

This neat little Missionary Baptist Church apparently is up for sale. The church is the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.

This is a turken rooster, sometimes referred to as a naked neck. These chickens are bred to have less feathers on the neck, breast, and vent in hopes of making the cleaning a little less troublesome. I think this is still a beautiful bird!

This tug boat was pushing a string of barges down river. The photograph was taken in the late evening. River traffic is heavy on the Mississipi River.

Founded in 1793 on a Spanish land grant, Cape Girardeau is a an active, and attractive small city on the banks of the Mississippi River. It is a regional hub for health, education and medical services.

Named for a Missouri Congressman who brought home the bacon needed to build this bridge, the Bill Emerson Bridge spans the Mississippi River and connects Cape Girardeau to the State of Illinois. It is a four lane cable stayed bridge that was opened in December of 2003.

This old Coca Cola sign was still on one of the buildings in downtown Cape Girardeau. The sign advertises Coke for 5 cents and it says that Coca Cola relieves fatigue. Coke was 5 cents a bottle when I was a kid.

In Cape Girardeau, Missouri the BNSF tracks pass the Missouri Wall of Fame.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe #5433, a GE C44-9W, leads a mixed freight along BNSF tracks that runs parallel to the Missouri Wall of Fame that is painted on the Flood wall protecting the city of Cape Girardeau.

Cochin chickens are about the same size as the Brahmas, with puffy feathers all over! Both breeds have feathered feet, too.

This is one of the biggest of chicken breeds. They stand an average of 26 inches tall. This big guy has a Prince Albert Tobacco can for his feed!
